Mr. E. Shanmuga Sundaram, Joint Director, Office of the State Commissioner for the Disabled was the Chief Guest. In his address, he elaborated on the schemes offered by the Government for the disabled. Mr. Vijay Kumar, Advocate, spoke on the legal status of the disabled in his keynote address (download PDF). He emphasised the need for the implementation of the PWD Act.

During the programme, assistive devices were distributed to the disabled. Participants included disabled students from various institutions. Aids and appliances for Rs. 21,000/- were distributed to the disabled. All participants were offered a gift hamper as part of the celebrations. The Hindu covered the event prominently.
