Sukriti and TI Cycles of India conduct a Bicycle Assembly and Repair Program

Sukriti, true to its belief in equal opportunities for the disabled conducted a Bicycle assembly and Maintenance Training program, in association with TI Cycles of India at their factory at Ambathur .The program was held between 21st of October to 28th of October 2009. 15 persons participated (8 with Loco motor disabilities, 3 with mild mental retardation, 1 Hearing and speech impaired and 1 Hearing impaired and 1 slow learner and a spouse of a disabled person They were screened for the aptitude, challenges both economic and physical .The offered program was full time (8 Am to 4Pm).Sukriti arranged pick and drop for the trainees. TI Cycles offered breakfast, lunch along with the refreshments to the participants.

During the hands on training they learnt trade name of components, Tools handling Assembly, Dismantling of cycles trouble shooting, repair & maintenance. The candidates were very enthusiastic and excited, through the training period. They enjoyed traveling learning and being together. For Arjunan and Paramasivam this was the first ever travel way from their respective villages. “It was revealing experience” to quote both of them .All the participants were fast learners according to the trainer Mr Ganagadharan.

Sukriti plans to rehabilitate as many participants as possible. As a first step 2 shop are to be set up for the beneficiaries.2 candidates who were willing to go for a job have been offered jobs at TI’s Dealer network .This training would improve the earning capacity of the disabled there by improving quality of life. The training program has impacted the participant’s confidence levels and this will close the wedge between them and the society.
